Most people on the computer don't mean to become pirates. They just want to try a program out first. I'm talking about with no restrictions or limitations; sometimes they only use the program a few times a month. Better safe when spending potentially hundreds of dollars.

You don't have to break the law to get the soft ware that you need! Read on to find out how.

You need at least 10 gigs free on hard drive; to install Ubuntu, a Linux base Operating system.

Ubuntu has soft ware repositories' on the Internet, they are connected to an add and remove programs interface in the menu. Just type the name of the program that you want into the search field and bingo, you get a list of soft ware to pick from.

You can get rid of them just as easy. All you have to do is un-check the box next to the un-wanted program.

I can't believe all the free soft ware on the Linux based Operating system; including the Operating

System! You should be able to find anything that you can imagine, I mean anything!

Computer Optimization made easy

Optimization of the computer sounds a lot more complicated than it really is; keep on reading to find out how easy it is to do you're self. You can save about a hundred bucks doing this for you're self instead of having Geek Squad or Fire dog do it.

First I like to start by uninstalling all the unneeded and trial crap. That means you need to go to the add and remove programs feature on you're computer. Next proceed in getting rid of all the programs that you don't want.

After the general house keeping is done navigate to Ccleaner ("Google is your friend") and download it.

Open Ccleaner and run it, in both settings. This will clean out most of the temporary files and cookies folders; among other things. I use it myself.

Now you need an auto start program manager; among other things, so navigate to this site to get all kinds of optimization soft ware for free Windows Sysinternals. I use this stuff all the time.

If you've been running windows for a while now you need to disable some auto starting programs.

I like to start with the Adobe updater and reader; they will start when they are called for, so will the others that you disable. When that's done I go for QuickTime and all the ITunes helper stuff. I also turn off the instant messengers. By this point you have removed a large start up burden from you're newly optimized computer, restart and make sure that things stayed off.

Between uninstalling unwanted soft ware and turning off some unneeded auto starting programs, you have sped up you're computing experience a bunch.

You can install full feature photo type applications and office soft ware at a later time; for free.

These like to down load things into temporary folders, and any other directory it chooses; things like .dlls and installers.Down loaders will down load on every boot. The installers will install on every boot. Thats why you will see the same things show up, scan after scan. Even after you have removed them. Try this one out for piece of mind.

Optimization and things

Welcome to the site...

Now that you are here, I will tell you what I know about computer optimization. It isn't nearly as complicated as it sounds.

Optimizing your own computer could save you some cash. Optimizing will also help you get familiar with it. I like to feel comfortable on a new computer before I start depending on it, and this is a good way to see how things work.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Geek Squad and Fire Dog have their place. I just believe it's better to spend your own money the way you want, not the way you are told.

First off we will need to get a start up program manager installed.
It's easy and will make a big difference in how long your computer takes to start up.

Get it at this site, Microsoft Tech Net site, down load and install it. Take a look at what you have starting up. Then come back to finish the rest of the article.

It's really easy to do, just uncheck the box to the left of what you
don't want to run, thats all there is to it. Google the things that you are not sure about.

After the start ups are set I like to use CCleaner, another free utility. It cleans out temporary files and lots more. Get it here, CCleaner, then use it.

I would suggest UN-installing some programs now. Your computer comes with all kinds of trial software pre-installed on it.
You never use most of it, and if you do, it expires and it's not as useful as it once was. Not to worry, you can replace Office and photo software for free too. I will show you in an other article.

Re-boot the computer after you are done getting rid of useless programs.

Now we need to get rid of Spy-ware and other assorted Mal-ware and virus type stuff. This will help to get rid of pop up windows and browser high-jackers. These steps are worth taking. You need to get spybot; get it here, Spybots Home page. Make sure to up-date the signatures and then run it. Follow the directions and you will be fine.

That should get rid of some of the big chunks; any way stay tuned as I will write more on the subject of keeping your computer running like new; or should I say better than new.

Browser of choice

I think the number one reason that I started using Firefox, was for a feeling of independence. I felt like a rebel not using Microsoft stuff. It felt good exploring new territory. I had tried out several other browsers before I found Firefox. They were kind of fun, sorta fancy, but not real effective. I started getting into web development about the same time that I started using Firefox. They go hand in hand in this category. Getting "plug-ins" and "extending Firefox" is probably the easiest thing to do. Remember that the more extensions you install can possibly have an effect on your browsers characteristics and performance. Don't worry though, they are easy to un-install. I joined this community rite off the bat (Spread Firefox). When you think about it, We are a large community! But when you look at it, we are just a stone in the shoe of Internet Explorer. It starts with the last generation's parents. Not the touchy feel good hippie generation, but their parents. The ones that went to the Moon! Thats what we need more of! We need innovation, not what ever it is the hell they are doing now. The founding fathers would be ashamed! Wilbur and Orville would have never left the ground with leader ship examples like we have now.

This is my theory on how the libs came to be in power. In the beginning when they couldn't stop the Vietnam war fast enough, they decided to take up teaching and politics. It took many years to accomplish their all important goal of leader ship! Slowly they manipulated and distorted the core values of the founding fathers and the American voters to create a feel good country. A really weird and ugly country to our sand dwelling and cave living in enemy's.

The left blames Administration foreign policy on the way that the United States is viewed by the rest of the world, especially the desert part of the world. They couldn't be more wrong! The religious people of the world take a look at the gay marriage and child porn freaks! They look at the (ACLU) and what they defend! Thats the foreign policy that the sand dwellers see.

When I first got online I fell in love with down loading! "The Free

I must have down loaded and installed hundreds of programs. I have

Firefox extensions are little programs that extend the usefulnes of Firefox, that put’s it as simple as a person can get it, I think?

Actually the Bibs first
were made of hemp which made them strong and durable, The oompas would
not only wear them but they would smoke them to, and that would make
the oompas very hungry and they started eating all of the chocolate at
the factory, Well that cut into all the profit and the share holders
were not very happy, so now the bibs are made of cotton, and the oompas
are drug tested regularly.

Blogging software or blogger beware?
I have noticed a lot of ads for "blogging software". They claim that they can create blogs faster than they can be taken down and get your links on 1000's of sites. Stop rite there! Thats not blog software! "Thats splog software"! A splog is a spam blog. You must have ran into them? They are every where, like in the comments on your own blog, the ones that make no sense what so ever. You click on one of the links, just to see who wrote all that gibberish. Those links usually take you to a Viagra site or something like that. Yep those are the ones. If you want to be like them, get some blogging software and get black listed.

This is just an excerpt of an article I am working on.
Just some food for thought.

I like to look for soft ware!

I have down loaded and insalled , I don't know how many programs! These are some that I thought were really Good!

OpenOffice is an OpenSource office program with all the features of Microsoft office 2003 except the out look mail part(use Mozilla mail).
Nvu is my favorite HTML editor! I use it every day!

"Yep", they are hunting for a story. But I don’t think they have found one.
That’s why they have invented one. Who you ask is “They”?
They are the main stream Press. Who are the main stream Press?
You ask but another question that you already know the answer to.
The main stream Press can be any news organization that you don’t agree with.
Did any one hear about the new Iraq tapes proving weapons’ of mass destruction existed.
They also prove Sadam was moving them out of the country in converted commercial air liners.
Did any one here that one?
Or, how a bout the new chairman of the Fed? Is he thinking about raising interest rates?
That would affect everyone with a credit card or an adjustable rate mortgage.
Did you here how things are going with the Fed?
My definition of the main stream Press is any place that I didn’t see these stories.

Anti Virus or me

“Anti Virus or me”?!?
I have never received damage du to a virus.
Let me say that a gain. I have never….you get the picture.
The only damage’s that I have received were caused by “me.”
Especially for me! Thanks to me; mostly me any way I think?
Most of the time it’s just dumb things we, (let get installed) on our computers.
Or install our self’s. So that stuff, is in kind of a different category. (“WHY”?) Ok,
“Because you gave it permission”. Now it has free rain, or run….We will get to that.
After the first part is done.
First we need to talk about (“Free Anti Virus”) and brands?
Free Soft ware and web based scanning systems are every where.
I use a number of different brands myself. But it only makes sense to have one anti virus running in the back ground! I use multiple scanners, but I turn them on and off when I want them. Every Antivirus program you install will want to auto run when you boot. As far as that goes, most programs in general want to start when you’re computer doe’s. More than one Anti Virus can make things work funny; sometimes. But not always.
(AVG) works good. My brother uses it.
I use (Avast). I like it better. http://www.avast.com/index.html
Use what ever Anti Virus you feel most comfortable using. (That way you will use it more often.)
Any way, if you don’t have a start up program manager, you need to get one.
You can pick the programs you want and uncheck the ones you don’t. (“Easy to use”)
You need the start up manager so you can uninstall unwanted programs that start and run when you boot the computer. (when they are running they can’t be uninstalled!)
I use this. (Easy to use.)

After you weed out the programs that you don’t want. Run a (Mal-ware) scan.
(Spy-ware) scan and a Virus Scan. Do the first two scans as soon as you can.
This will keep un wanted programs that fall into these categories from reinstalling; “from temp~ folders or something like that”. (Just empty you’re temp~ internet folders). Pages will be reloaded fresh.(On dial up, it will slow you down for a little while. Not long.)
But on the up side of emptying the temp~ internet folder; Any bad installers set to install at boot will be gone!
Cookies? They will always put a new cookie on when you go back any way.
I take them off just to mess up their research!

I just heard something really funny on the morning news.
I was watching the news again…I like to flip through the channels to see how every body looks at the same things differently. And this one almost floored me!

They were talking about Ford. Some reporters thought that the president should think about a bail out.
One commentator even went so far as to say, that when Jimmy Carter bailed out Chrysler it was a success. The last time I looked Chrysler was a German owned company!
I think the CNN reporters just needed a Dem fix or something. If Bush wanted to bail them out it would be wrong! He doesn't want to bail them out so he is wrong? What did this guy ever do to them that they hate him so much?
Now, Carter is touted as being a fine, if not great president. “WHAT”!? Don't you remember the gas lines and the hostages in Iran! How about Jimmy's brother Billy? (The Billy Bear Company.) Public urination and fun stuff like that. (“The Bail out Worked”!) (So did the ones we gave the Airlines!) How a bout the Katrina money? Did that get the job done! Let’s blame the people who actually have something to do with it! Maybe they are even in a position to do something besides point the finger at the President; who ever the President may be at the time.
President’s change, ludicrousness doe's not!

It's time to do a little bit of Blogging.

I have so much fun doing this kinda stuff, it almost seams like you are doing something wrong! “I know I'm not”; well maybe?
I just like to find alternative soft ware and services to accomplish things for free.
Some things are better to pay for. You can get service that way!
This is one of my favorite finds; “well I like it”. It's called (Open Office 2.0)

“I have been very busy”.
I'm trying to put together a domain to call my own. It's kinda a blast!
First I installed a message board. I call it, “thegate101.com”, Then I installed a multi Blog, I call it “BlogGate”. I have other sites that I'm working on too.
Ever since I got a computer, I have wanted to have my own site. Not only to have one, but I wanted to learn how to make one. So I did. Static web sites are the easiest and probably the the most rewarding to build. The Open Source Dynamic sites are the most interactive and fun to use. So I have integrated both styles/types into my domain.
I'm not selling anything yet. I don't even have google add sense up.
But I'm kinda in this Internet web thing just for fun now any way.
And I have learned one more thing.
